Crassula pyramidalis is a compact plant that grows to a maximum of 13-15 centimeters tall. The stems lack visible leaves, or rather, the leaves are so small (4-8 mm) that they are barely visible because they are tightly packed like roof tiles along the four edges of the stem.

The stem tips and edges often have a beautiful deep red hue that makes the plant extra attractive.

During spring and summer, small, dense clusters of pink-white flowers develop at the tips of the stems. Unfortunately, the plant dies after flowering, which is natural for this species.

Botanical description

Crassula pyramidalis is native to the Succulent Karoo, a desert region spanning South Africa and Namibia. This area is known for its enormous biodiversity and high number of succulent species.

The plant naturally grows on mountaintops on quartzitic sandstone, in areas with both summer and winter rainfall. It is widespread across different climate zones and is not considered threatened in its natural habitat.

As a small succulent shrub, it has developed its unique characteristics to survive in dry, sunny environments with limited water availability.

Care

Crassula pyramidalis is slow growing but relatively easy to care for if you follow a few basic rules. Always choose a shallow pot with very permeable, porous soil, as the plant has superficial, fibrous roots.

Watering should be moderate and regular during spring and summer, but greatly reduced during winter to avoid rot. The most common problem is overwatering combined with poor ventilation.

Place the plant where it will receive plenty of light for most of the day. The plant cannot withstand frost and should be kept indoors when the temperature drops below 5°C.

Good air circulation is important to keep the plant healthy and prevent fungal problems. Buy Crassula pyramidalis 'Buddha's temple'

Puppy loves these sticks!
Color: Dogwood & Calming, Size: Medium
Dogs love these sticks! Must smell and taste like real wood because it keeps my puppy from bringing real sticks in the house from outside. She is a heavy chewer and these sticks keep her occupied. We are on our 2nd set.

Our dog loves it but it wasn’t durable enough to last
Color: Dogwood Jack, Size: Large, Color: Dogwood Jack, Size: Large
Our lab took to it as soon as we gave it to her. Perfect size for our 80 lb yellow lab. However, now that it’s in about 10 days, she’s able to break off chunks from this bone that are dime size or larger, and we have to throw it away

No problems after a year and a half
Color: Dogwood & Calming, Size: Medium
Have been regularly buying these for my corgi for about a year and a half. The 2 pack lasts about a month or 2 each time. Pieces break off in small enough pieces that they safely pass through his digestive system. He gnaws each one down to about 1/4 the original size before we take it away and give him a new one. He continues to have regular bowel movements and has a healthy appetite so I can’t imagine any problems arising after so long. I have tried other alternatives and every other similar chew breaks off in larger pieces and didn’t feel comfortable letting him chew/eat them. I noticed there are a few 1 star reviews saying their dogs got sick off these but after a year and a half I have had 0 issues with this product. I guess it depends on the dog and how big of pieces they are swallowing. My dog ingests pieces about the size of a grain of rice so just pay attention and you should be fine.
